VoIP:: Dialing an Asterisk client from JaJah

How to call other Asterisk servers

Let´s say, the Asterisk box has IP "192.168.0.1", and your Asterisk account is:

Username: 2020
Password: isnotyours2know

Then there is an Asterisk extension "1000" you want to call from your JAJAH.

This is simple:
Just dial "iax:2020:isnotyours2know@192.168.0.1/1000".
Of course it´s possible to store the dial codes in your buddy list.

BusinessTranformation:: Cisco AON is essentially an XSLT - XML WebServices Router

Cisco new AON initiative is a bit late in terms of innovation.
However Cisco is an extraordinary awesome marketing machine that
when they focus on a particular market, they do so, to be #1 or #2.

Noticed how Cisco managed to cajole big name company to blessed
their 11th hour entrance into the XML WebServices SOAi arena.
This is a testament to their superior marketing and sales skills.

We expect Cisco AON to become widely accepted in the industry.
Therefore we have made a concerted effort to support Cisco AON and provide
integration and professional services for it.
AgileCO newly announced SourceForge Project ViaSIP@Work has pledged
support for it too. http://sourceforge.net/projects/viasip/

Cisco could have been introduced this even three years sooner, since when I
joined them, I recalled immediately internally lobbying for them to develop and market an XML router.
Having said that, sometimes the race is not for the swift and first mover advantage
may not be that important now a days.

PodCasting:: Podcasting goes from indie to mainstream overnight

USA Today reported that:
Mainstream media companies are starting to dominate podcasts - topping in popularity the quirky independents that created the trendy online radio genre. Podcasts from ESPN, CNN, ABC News and the TV show Queer Eye are among the most popular this week on iTunes, Apple's download site.

That's a huge change. Until recently, podcasts were largely pirate-radio-style broadcasts, often produced by one person on a home PC. Now, podcasts are anchored by such staid celebrities as Rush Limbaugh and Ted Koppel.

Podcasting "went from underground to mainstream overnight," says Ted Schadler, digital media analyst at Forrester Research.

Customers signed up for more than a million free podcast subscriptions in just two days when iTunes started featuring them last month.

Podcasting:: X-casting with Del.icio.us

del.icio.us + enclosures = x-casting

This post over at the del.icio.us blog says:

Bookmarked items in del.icio.us that end in one of a number of filetypes will now automatically get some system tags added. You can use these just like normal tags. RSS feeds that have one of those system tags added will automatically become a rss-with-enclosures file.

So now you can generate a podcast from a del.icio.us feed of entries tagged with, say, system:filetype:mp3. Or, to get a podcast of all del.icio.us audio entries, get this: http://del.icio.us/rss/tag/system:media:audio. You can video-cast, picture-cast, pdf-cast, etc, etc. del.icio.us beocmes the enabler to “cast” bloody anything.

Brilliant!

And would you believe it, it gets even better! Say you wanted me to listen to a cool podcast. Instead of emailing me a link or whathaveyou, you could just tag it (something agreed upon) so I could then subscribe to that tagfeed–and voila! Podcasts you tag are automagically on myPod next time I sync up. Share podcasts via feeds, cutting out all the time-wasting communications middlemen.

It reminds me of http://dv3.agileco.net/xcasting and of http://icomcentral.com/demo.htm

Podcasting:: Emergic Podcasting comments of Dave Winer

It has been said that the best way to predict the future is to invented.
Dave Winer is certainly and individual that deserved a lot of the credit for what we today
know as WebLogs.

Personally, I have been following his musing ever since I subcribed to Radio UserLand Desktop client almost 4 years ago.

I went back and read Emergic wrote regarding Dave Winer comment about PodCasting
http://www.emergic.org/archives/2004/10/04/index.html#podcasting and
what he said about Rush Limbaugh (podcasting) is certainly true, thouh Mr Limabaugh is not
iTune 4.9 Podcasting as of yet.

PodCasting: : How Apple Got it Right

A number of Blogs have been "sounding" off on Apple iTunes 4.9 release which includes PodCasting support.
Do you think Adam Curry visualized this, when he started the PodCasting movement?

It has been reported that since Apple announced support for PodCasting ( 10 days ) that over 2 million users have opted to use Apple iTunes 4.9 with PodCast support.
http://playlistmag.com/features/2005/06/podcastingfirstlook/index.php
By any measure this is a real successful product/service launch.

PodCasting:: Apple Turns UP the volume with Podcast Support in iTunes

Apple's chapter system adds an entire new dimension to podcasts.
For the first time, true podcast ecommerce, is possible. Chapters add the ability to embed links and graphics displayed in sync with the podcast. Now podcasters can discuss a product or website, place a graphic representation for it on the screen and simultaneously provide a hyperlink that, when clicked, would give the podcaster credit for that clickthrough and tie in to existing e-commerce systems. Additionally all new types of podcasts are now possible: Artwork podcasts that actually show the artwork they are discussing, story-based podcasts that use the chapter art as illustrations, and more.

AgileCO.net just announced a new integration option which provides
an efficient means to link AgileCO RTC (Real Time Communication) http://jabber.agileco.net/jwchat/ with their http://SugarCRM.com hosted service.
This integration leverages Skype, IAX, SMS and Jabber to substantially lower cost and improved productivity.

Now the SME enterprise can increase customer satisfaction and reduce churn
by AgileCO.net integration of Skype, IAX SMS and Jabber with the SME Support and HelpDesk/Customer Care organization.

Another benefit of AgileCO.net Real Time Communication integration with SugarCRM
is to 1. facilitate and accelerate the purchasing decision, 2. Stay apprise, and proactive with your leads and prospects and track the needs and interest of potential clients.

SkypeCasting

I just read Henshall WebLog, he created a unique method to do PodCasting using Skype.
He aptly named it "SkypeCasting" and has posted his SkypeCaster recipe online
http://www.henshall.com/ for those interested in taking advantage of this low cost, on the fly way of creating PodCasts.
What does one need to SkypeBlog?
You will need the following:
1-Skype
2-Virtual Audio Cables
3-Windows Sound Recorder, a simple Wav to mp3 converter RSS2.0_Enclosures
4-iPodder or FireAnt
5-A Weblog - Jroller / MT, etc..
What are the benefit to SkypeCasting?
- A simple Skype recording solution for capturing "great" audio.
- No extra overhead. It all works on one Windows XP PC.
- A Weblog platform - such as Blogger, JRoller or MT- that "reads" for podcasts.
- A lowcost way to distribute podcasts without running up bandwidth bills (podcasttorrent) Quick and simple to do.

Will the enterprise now create their "Marketecture" using Blogs?

Corporate blogging lives up to the hype
By ADT Staff

Backbone Media, an Internet marketing consulting firm, has released
the results of its 2005 corporate blogging survey
(http://www.backbonemedia.com/blogsurvey/) and a series of case
studies. The blogging survey sought to understand what results
business bloggers have received from their blogs.

The company asked bloggers at hundreds of companies to participate in
an online survey and conducted in-depth interviews with six companies,
including IBM, Microsoft, Maytag and Macromedia. Specifically, the
survey asked respondents what sales, PR, search engine optimization
and product development results bloggers have seen from their blogging
initiatives. Backbone has published the results of its analysis in a
68-page white paper, Web site and blog that describes how a company can
build a successful blog.

How big is the PodCasting Market?

How Big is the Podcasting Market?

ipodNow that Apple’s iTunes has added podcasting support, and it is getting noticed on Wall Street, it is about time someone came out with a market research report, however over-exuberant it might seem. The Diffusion Group emailed a press release this morning and were quick to point out that the “demand for time-shifted digital audio files or “podcasts” is expected to grow from less than 15% of portable digital music player owners in 2004 to 75% by 2010.

TDG’s new report, Podcasting: Fact, Fiction and Opportunity, suggests that between 2004 and 2010, the use of podcasting among US consumers will enjoy a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 101%.

Does iTunes 4.9 supports Video Casting?

Existing video-casting support in iTunes

The RSS technology implementation in iTunes 4.9 will syndicate almost any valid RSS feed, regardless of what filetypes it links. Couple this with support for video playback, also recently added to itunes, and its easy to see that iPod Podcasting support easily translates into iTunes Video-casting support.

One tipster has setup a standard RSS feed linked to video files of type .mov and .mp4. Users of iTunes 4.9 can subscribe to this feed as a Podcast. It loads just fine. Instead of streaming pre-recorded audio content to the user, each entry in the Postcasts launches pre-recorded video content from within iTunes in popup windows.

MAC PodCasting Hardware - My PodCasting Studio

Now you can create you own professional PodCast audio files for broadcasting on the MAC.
Apple too, has turned up the volume by their recent announcement to support PodCasting.

This is what I suggest to anyone looking for a Pro/Prosumer PodCasting Studio.
Start with a good microphone such as the 2020. I purchased the AT3035PACK Audio-Technica; which included the cable and stand.
Do not forget a ProCo mic cable, 10' to 25 and an On Stage microphone boom.
To monitor your audio, consider the Sony 7502 headphone, let just said that it
does the job.
To get the audio into your Mac I used the Edirol firewire FA101 10 channel in and 10 channels out connections. This unit also provides high resolution stereo recording and playback at 24-bit/192 khz for DVD-A SuperCD quality.

To edit the audio/music/sound I use a combination of Garage Band and
Bias Peak LE 3.5/4.0 software.
The Bias Peak LE 4.0 allow you to do waveform editing, not to mention its
support for reverb and compression,so we can optimized for the NET or
save it as MP3 or iTune ACC format for REAL Apple MAC iPODCasting.

PodCasting Hardware review Edirol 1

I recently purchased an Edirol 1 digital recorder as my professional MP3/Wave recorder.

This is one neat device with lots of nice features.

When I "promptly" received my unit from http://bswusa.com I noticed that the Edirol 1
casing leaves a lot to be desire and in fact looks like those 1950 Japanese AM radios.

What I did not appreciate was the that their plastic compact flash door is very flimsy and can break at any time. The other issue with it is that one can not stop, pause, search and re-record
easily, not to mentioned the obtuse way it forces one to name the files.

When I contacted BSWUSA, they issued and RMA right away. I really like doing business with BSWUSA they are very knowledgeable and professional, in addition to having great prices.

My plan now is to wait for when Edirol starts shipping their top of the line Edirol R4.

NterNetainment Guide to PodCasting - Vol 1

Podcasting is redefining the radio industry throughout the world.

What is PodCasting?
Fundamentally is a way to publish audio files to the Internet.
Podcasting enables independent producers to create self-published, syndicated "radio shows," and gives broadcast radio programs a new distribution channel. Listeners may subscribe to RSS feeds using "podcatching" software (a type of aggregator such as Ipodder, AntSnotTV, etc..), which periodically checks for and downloads new content.

What can one do with PodCasting?
1. Self-Guided Walking Tours - Informational content.

2. Music - Band promotional clips and interviews.

3. Talk Shows - Industry or organizational news, investor news, sportscasts, news coverage and commentaries.

4. Training-Tutorials- Instructional informational materials.

5. Story - Story telling for children or the visually-impaired

6. Interviews

7. Marketing-
Product Descriptions and Guide

8-
Unofficial audio tours of museums

9- Public-Talk Broadcast-Narrowcasting

VoxMedia as has a good tutorial on incorporating iTunes with Podcasting here http://www.voxmedia.org/wiki/PodcastChapterTool

Once you created your PodCast how do you display it?

Fortunately there a number of Free and commercial tools; which will assist in displaying your PodCasting files.

RSS to Java Script - Free rss/rdf to javascript conversion. No XML or programming experience is required.

RSS2HTML - free service displays Podcasts or RSS feeds as an HTML page

RSSinclude - Use the RSSinclude form, enter the URL address of the RSS feed you would like to integrate and copy a piece of HTML into your website. Thats all. Nothing more is needed to display any RSS feed on your website. RSSinclude service will do all the work.

FeedRoll Pro - (commercial tool) display content using PHP or javascript.
See http://podcasting-tools.com

Now that you have created your PodCast, you no doubt want a method for people
to search/find and subcribe to your PodCast.
Here are just a few links of sites that will help you submit your PodCast:
